I'm doing a bit of a self-project over the break and we've done the abstract unit in art class, so why not make an abstract work to hang on my wall? I really wanted to stick with the color scheme of my room, which is a lot of shades of blue (light - medium blue, not dark). To the left is the color scheme I decided to go with (found on the Adobe Color Wheel thing) because I like the blues and the 3 middle colors I think would be really cool together.
To the right is my plan that I made on my computer. It's supposed to be like 2 rectangles, one the color on the left of the middle and one the color on the right of the middle, and their intersection is the middle color. I think it's kind of like transparency, like one activity we did in art class. I really like how the right angles throw interesting lines when they intersect.
Anyway, I started with the black in the background (left) by using tape to outline the outer edges in my plan and painted it black with acrylic. I don't know how I want to orient it, I guess it depends on where I decide to hang it and how the final product looks. If all goes well, it should be done in a few days and by the end of winter break at the latest. That is all, - Akshata
